Tabernacle Preview

The exhibit is up!     The grandeur of a soaring, skylighted ceiling and stone walls make it a beautiful but challenging space for hanging.   Jessica Bechtel made it look easy.  Her prowess with the 10ft. pole and on the ladder was impressive.  Both of us were humbled and awed by the end result, though.  Four very different painters, with very different visions and interpretations; and still, it's a congruent and moving body of work.
The official opening is Friday July 13th and everything is hung but a very large drawing of mine.  It is fragile, cumbersome, unframeable and I've decided to wait until the opening to hang it.  (more about this particular drawing later).  In the meantime, here is a preview ; a large mixed media work on paper entitled "Rebuilding a Vision".

Prime Pig Location

Thanks to everyone who has texted and emailed about the pig-on-the-banks!  It is standing proud on the corner of Main and Freedom Way, across from the Reds Hall of Fame (west end of ballpark) and the Holy Grail.  Convenient for those of us who like a snack while visiting pigs, there is a Johnny Rockets within steps of this pig (selling COWburgers and shakes!)  While you are down there check out the new park (right around the corner toward the river).....good green space, a stone labyrinth and fountains.  Don't forget to send me a picture, like this one from Steve Ballard.

A Home on the Banks

Can't tell the exact location .....but this little piggy has found it's summer home somewhere on the Banks.  If you find it, let me know.  I would love to have an album of photos of YOU ALL , hamming it up with "La".

Thanks to my very witty friend Jill Thompson, who came up with the name (La; a Note to Follow Sow).   It was fun to discover that some donated WHHS music included The Sound of Music choral score.  I was able to collage  "La, a note to follow ......."on several flowers.

doing the PIG GIG JIG!

I'm not sure who is happiest....my family (so tired of my talking about, stressing over, working on this porker), Olive (a jealous dog), or ME!  It was a very fun adventure, but I am ready to be about some new projects, including an exhibit coming up at the end of June.  (I'll share details later)   Thanks for all of the visits and support!  Tomorrow we head down to Northside for clear-coating.  Artworks picks up from there....installing her somewhere downtown .  Stay posted for details as to where and when, and thanks again everyone!

Final Blooms

Thanks to Anna Risch, Suzanne Wiers, Barb Lash Linder, Gloria Kreider Hovater Smith for their donations of music. You'll have to search the pig itself, for several cryptic messages within the collaged flowers (keep an eye out, Summerfair)!  There are some tribute flowers as well;  the very first flowers I painted (the 3 sisters), a girl scout nod to Sally Coates, one for Liz Bren that I painted as she valiantly and impressively underwent some big-time surgery, one to my ma, and one for my dear Aunt Larue.

Pig Bottom (as promised)

Here are some shots of the Pig's (problematic!) butt.    Took way too much time to figure this one out, but I'm very pleased with the END result.      Kudos and thanks to friend Suzanne Wiers who paid me a visit while I undercoated the legs and feet with blues.  She suggested I keep them that way and I did!   While it was much more complicated , it adds good contrast and interest.

Visitors!

It's been a delight to have a long list of studio visitors!  Sadly, I have not documented all of them but here are a few shots of  F.O.P.  (friends of pig).

"behind" schedule

Painting the pig like a mad woman (do take note of my stylish get-up) only to find that the clear coating has been delayed.  "LA" will leave my studio on Monday morning for the John Hall Body Shop in Northside.  The good news is that this gives me a few more days to perfect the "behind"......tricky territory!  You can look forward to photos of pork butt as you've never seen it!
