Secret ArtWorks 21 !

Happy 21st birthday to ArtWorks....and what a great party they threw at Lunken Airport Hangar 2.
Both of my pieces sold quickly and finally I get to reveal them!  Each began with a pretty detailed floral design (not sure why) which was scrubbed and sanded and painted over and over...revealing some great texture and complex color.  Then came the overpainting and collage work.  Here they are:

Happy to Wait

Ive had a busy few months working on another great ArtWorks project.  Last year's project (Proton Project for Childrens Hospital) found me holed up in my studio creating 15 large pieces for a new cancer treatment wing at the Liberty site of CHMC.  The wing is not open yet, as the large proton laser machines must "gather protons" before they are able to function.  If any of you understand this please comment!   Anyhow, stay tuned for an opening  and postings in the future.)
This Jan-March venture  was for the  Winton Hills Health Clinic (WinMed) in Winton Terrace.  In collaboration with Cradle Cincinnati (a non-profit working to improve Cincy's dismal infant mortality rate) ArtWorks has begun a Happy to Wait project, beautifying the health clinics of the city.
I had 3 amazing apprentices and a teaching assistant  and we ran 3 community engagement art-making events in Winton Terrace, then with plenty of inspiration got to work creating over 30 pieces of art for the exam rooms in the adult unit of the clinic.  I loved the new challenge of working with the apprentices ; we collaborated on many pieces, inspired one another, ate together, sang together and enjoyed our hours together making art in the studio.
