new song for a new day

This painting is one in the series based on the photographs that Barry Carlin took in Ghana and Uganda. I was especially struck by the women that he depicted....always working, never resting, forever singing and dancing.

troth

30x30"
acrylic on canvas
There is always an enormous temptation in all of life to diddle around making itsy-bitsy friends and meals and journeys for itsy-bitsy years on end. It is so self-conscious, so apparently moral, simply to step aside from the gaps where the creeks and winds pour down, saying, I never merited this grace, quite rightly, and then to sulk along the rest of your days on the edge of rage. I won't have it. The world is wilder than that in all directions, more dangerous and bitter, more extravagant and bright. We are making hay when we should be making whoopee; we are raising tomatoes when we should be raising Cain, or Lazarus. Annie Dillard

New work at Rohs St

refugee

unspoken

2 new pieces hanging in the Rohs St Cafe in Clifton during Lent check out the art and the really
good fair trade coffee

I will listen to your story even though it hurts my ears.

This is the picture that combines two of my worlds- therapy and art.

It hangs in the home of two of my staunchest, wisest supporters (patrons... in every way), the Heffners. Have they ever listened to my stories! and I to theirs. (since 1976!)

One of the greatest gifts I can offer my clients, and ,indeed, that we all offer each other is to listen without judgement. even to the hard stuff.

new work presence 2

Some new work heading to Long Island for the second round of Presence. (can I say I've had a show in NY now?) It's more delicate, quieter. I'm working on some big bold abstract pieces so I like the change of moving over to the table and cutting rice paper! Am hoping that ,especially, the big Presence canvasses sell.....
